A 15-year-old boy found dead in an alley in south suburban Lansing early Wednesday had been shot twice in the head with a shotgun, a Thursday autopsy revealed.
Police found the boy’s body about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday after someone called to report an unresponsive teen lying in an alley in the 17000 block of Lorenz Avenue, according to a release from Lansing police.
Asonte Gutierrez, of the 4700 block of West 185th Place in Country Club Hills, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
An autopsy showed he suffered two shotgun wounds to the head and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
A person of interest was found in the area and was taken in for questioning, according to police, who did not have additional details Thursday. A lieutenant said they were still talking to the person of interest.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting with the investigation.
