Firefighter, 2 children injured in West Side fire

A firefighter and two children were hospitalized after a blaze broke out at a building in the Little Village neighborhood early Thursday.
Firefighters were notified of the blaze at a two-story building located in the 2800 block of South Kedvale Avenue about 3:30 a.m., said Fire Media Affairs.
The fire began in the two-story building’s basement and spread to a nearby building, Fire Media Affairs said.
A firefighter was taken in good condition to Rush University Medical Center, Fire Media Affairs said. A 7-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were taken to Saint Anthony Hospital, where they were listed in good condition, Fire Media Affairs said.
