Police shoot person in Austin neighborhood

A person was in serious condition after being shot by police Sunday night in the Austin neighborhood, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 9:40 p.m. near the intersection of West Bloomingdale and North Lotus, police said.
A person was listed in serious condition at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, fire officials said.
Police officers were not injured, authorities said.
A spokesman for the city’s Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates police-involved shootings, said agency officials were at the scene collecting details.
