Cincinnati restaurateur Jeff Ruby may have been kicked out of Drew Peterson’s murder trial, but he isn’t done watching the ex-cop.

Ruby has announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to Stacy Peterson’s whereabouts.

“That’s good,” said defense attorney Joe Lopez. “He can afford it. It’s a good idea.”

“Good for him,” said defense attorney Joel Brodsky.

“There’s somebody out there that knows something,” Ruby said Monday afternoon. “I think $100,000 will give somebody some courage.” He added that now is the safest time to come forward, while Drew Peterson is in jail.

He asked anyone with information to contact the District 5 state police in Lockport.

When asked whether the folks in Cincinnati are keeping up with the news on Peterson’s trial, Ruby said, “They are now.”

Ruby inserted himself in the Peterson story last month, when he began taking out ads in Sun-Times Media newspapers, including The Herald-News, criticizing Peterson’s defense team.

Ruby had attended the Peterson trial for two days last week when he got kicked out of the courthouse Aug. 23 for mouthing an expletive at Peterson during a break in the trial.

Peterson had been staring him down and giving him dirty looks, Ruby said.

“If looks could kill, I would have been his third victim,” Ruby said.

He was arrested at Harrah’s Casino in Joliet the same night, charged with contempt. He was released from the county jail on a recognizance bond.

Stacy Peterson’s family also offers a $35,000 reward for information on Stacy’s whereabouts. In 2008, Drew Peterson offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to Stacy’s “safe return.”
