A Will County judge sentenced a Lemont man to six months in jail and four years of sex offender probation Thursday for repeatedly molesting a teenage girl between 2003 and 2007, according to the Will County state’s attorney’s office.
Greg A. Voegtlin must also register for life as a sex offender and avoid his victim.
Judge Richard Schoenstedt told him not to have any contact with any girl under the age of 18, aside from his 2- and 4-year-old daughters.
A jury convicted Voegtlin in May on three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after his victim told them he started sexually abusing her in May 2003, when she was 14.
Voegtlin’s attorney, Steven Haney, said the abuse didn’t happen. He said prosecutors lacked evidence, and he raised questions about the victim’s delay in reporting the crime. Prosecutors said Voegtlin’s victim had no reason to lie.
