One dead, 10 wounded in shootings on South and Near West sides

One man was killed and 10 others were wounded by gunfire in separate incidents since Monday afternoon.
Anthony Collazo, 21, died after he was shot about 2:55 a.m. in the 600 block of North Ashland Avenue, police said.
Collazo, of the 1700 block of West Erie Street, was pronounced dead at 3:14 a.m. at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The shooting started about 3 p.m. when a 17-year-old boy was shot in the right leg in the 2400 block of East 75th Street, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said. The teen said he heard shots and felt pain but was otherwise uncooperative with police.
Paramedics took him to South Shore Hospital in good condition, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said.
Two hours later, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the chest in the 12400 block of South Perry Avenue, Zala said. He was taken in “stable” condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
About 6:45 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen area and right foot during a drive-by attack in the 7200 block of South Champlain Avenue, Zala said. The boy was standing on the sidewalk when somebody inside a gray minivan opened fire on him.
He was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.
About five minutes later, two men, ages 25 and 28, were both shot in the leg during a possible drive-by in the 11800 block of South Indiana Avenue, police said.
About 9:05 p.m., a 20-year-old man was standing in an alley with several other males in the 1000 block of South Racine Avenue when a light-colored sedan drove by and someone inside opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
He was shot in the buttocks and taken in “stable” condition to Stroger Hospital, he said.
Two hours later two men, 46 and 50, were shot in a vehicle after they pulled over and were robbed at gunpoint in the 11400 block of South Stewart Avenue.
They were taken to area hospitals in “stable” condition.
About 12:30 a.m. Tuesday an 18-year-old man was sitiing on a porch in the 500 block of West 104th Street when he was shot in the foot by someone in a passing vehicle, police said.
He was taken in good condition to Roseland Community hospital.
About 3:20 a.m., a 19-year-old was shot in the left knee in the 7900 block of South Ellis Avenue in the most recent shooting. He was taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Area detectives are investigating.
