A west suburban bank was robbed for the second time in a month on Monday morning, and authorities think the same man is responsible for both, as well as a third robbery at another bank.
The Inland Bank and Trust branch at 539 S. Spring Rd. in Elmhurst was robbed at 10:22 a.m., FBI Special Agent Joan Hyde said. A man approached a teller with a note demanding cash and implying he had a gun, though no weapon was displayed.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber ran off, Hyde said. No injuries were reported.
The robber is believed to be the same man who robbed the same bank on June 11, and a Chase Bank branch at 123 Main St. in Bensenville on April 2, she said.
Witnesses described the robber as a Hispanic or white male, 35-45 years old, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a short-sleeve shirt that was black in front with a grey pattern on the back, khaki shorts, sneakers and sunglasses.
A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information should call the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
