He was busted for illegal possession of laughing gas.

But a Joliet teen was told in court Sunday: “Stop crying!”

Tyler Schmidt, 17, was found Saturday night with tanks of nitrous oxide and suspected MDMA pills during a traffic stop in the 4700 block of West Fullerton, prosecutors alleged in court Sunday.

He allegedly tried to hide the pills and was Tasered by Chicago Police when he resisted arrest, according to a police report.

Described as “strawberry blonde” in the report, Schmidt is charged with two counts of resisting arrest as well as manufacture and delivery of the nitrous oxide and possession of MDMA. He appeared highly agitated Sunday during a brief appearance before Judge Adam D. Bourgeois .

His attorney repeatedly warned him not to harm his defense by talking to the judge. And after Bourgeois set his bail at $25,000, Schmidt sobbed as he was led from court.

“Stop crying, stop crying!,” a sheriff’s deputy told him several times as Schmidt complained that he did not have the $2,500 he needs to post to get out of jail.
