16 arrested in narcotics operations on South Side

Chicago Police arrested sixteen people and seized guns and cash Tuesday in two separate operations on the South Side targeting gangs and narcotic activity.
Narcotics officers arrested nine people in an investigation that targeted the Gangster Disciples street gang near the intersection of West 87th and South Loomis streets, police said.
Officers also recovered one gun and seized about $14,000 along with two vehicles, police said.
Later in the day, seven people were arrested in an operation near the 8400 block of South Kerfoot Avenue, according to police. Two guns, two vehicles about $1,000 and an amount of heroin was also seized.
Charges against the 16 people arrested include delivery of a controlled substance and delivery of cannabis, police said.
