Elgin attorney gets 6 months in jail for bilking clients

Elgin attorney William Chesbrough Jr. was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to pay some $205,000 in restitution on charges he stole from families he was representing.
Chesbrough was accused of bilking several families out of more than $200,000 while serving as their attorney.
In May, he pleaded guilty to three felony counts, including two for theft and one for financial exploitation of an elderly person while representing the victims as their lawyer.
In Kane County Court Wednesday, he was given the jail sentence and ordered to serve four years probation after his release..
