13-year-old boy shot, killed on South Side

A 13-year-old boy died after being shot early Sunday in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.
The boy was shot in the chest by someone in a passing vehicle in the 6200 block of South Rhodes Avenue about 1:26 a.m., police said.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:05 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
His name is being withheld Sunday morning pending family notification.
