2 teens charged with shooting out 30 vehicle windows in west suburbs

Two teenagers have been charged with shooting out the windows of about 30 vehicles earlier this month in three western suburbs.
On the evening of June 9, the DuPage County Sheriff’s office responded to a call of a broken vehicle window in unincorporated Glen Ellyn. Deputies were told of a suspicious vehicle in the area and located it a short time later. A traffic stop was made and evidence of the occupants’ involvement with the broken window was found, the release said.
The Sheriff’s office also received multiple reports of criminal damage to property across three suburbss in DuPage county. A pellet gun was used to shoot out about 30 vehicle windows and one residential window near Butterfield Road and Route 53 in Glen Ellyn, Wheaton and Lombard — a total of 14 incidents, a release said from police said.
Patrick Kolp, 18, of the 22W500 block of Balsam Drive in Glen Ellyn, and Matthew Kataura, 17, of the 3S100 block of Mulberry Lane in Glen Ellyn, were charged with four felony counts each of criminal damage to property and one misdemeanor count each of criminal damage to property.
Both posted 10 percent of a $10,000 bond and were released from the DuPage County Jail.
