Man fatally stabbed on South Side

A man was fatally stabbed early Monday on the South Side.
The man was stabbed in the chest about 1:40 a.m. in the 200 block of West 31st Street, according to police News Affairs.
The man -- identified as 30-year-old John H. Hughes Jr. of the 700 block of Elizabeth Street in West Chicago -- was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
No one was in custody Monday morning.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
