Police: Man fatally stabbed during domestic argument

Police released a woman whom detectives were questioning in the fatal stabbing that took place Monday afternoon on the Near West Side.
The woman was released without charges Wednesday after police determined she acted in self-defense, according to police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.
James Thompson, 54, was fatally stabbed at his home in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
He was stabbed in the chest about 12:05 p.m. during the domestic altercation with a woman, police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said.
Thompson was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:43 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
