Man fatally shot in chest on South Side

A man was fatally shot early Monday while in the passenger seat of a vehicle on the South Side, police said.
An unknown gunman fired five or six shots about 2:15 a.m. in the 9300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, according to Police News Affairs.
A 27-year-old man in the passenger seat of a vehicle was shot in the chest, police said.
The man -- identified as Dante Kyles of the 400 block of East 88th St. -- was taken to Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office..
No one was in custody Monday morning.
Area South detectives are investigating.
