Teens among 8 injured in shootins on South Side, Southwest Side

Eight people — including two 17-year-old boys — were wounded in separate shootings Thursday night and Friday morning on the South Side and the Southwest Side.

The first shooting occurred at 9:48 p.m. in the Marquette Park neighborhood, Officer Ronald Gaines said. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the foot in the 6600 block of South Oakley Avenue, police said, adding that the man was listed in good condition at Holy Cross Hospital.

Two minutes later, a 17-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach in the Calumet Heights neighborhood, police said. The boy was shot in the 8900 block of South Houston Avenue. The shooting was possibly gang-related. The boy was taken in good condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.

At 10:20 p.m., a 44-year-old man was shot in the lower back near the intersection of 6600 block of South May Street in the Englewood neighborhood, police said. The man walked into Saint Bernard Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.

At 10:38 p.m., a 48-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the right leg in the 7100 block of South Halsted Streets, police said, adding that the man was in good condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A male was shot in the lower back in 800 block of Monticello Avenue about 11:48 p.m., Gaines said. He walked into Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in guarded condition.

At 1:47 a.m., a 24-year-old man was shot while in the 1100 block of West 63rd Street, Gaines said. A fight started inside the Keynote Lounge and spilled out into the street.

The man, who was not involved in the fight, heard shots and felt pain, Gaines said. He was taken in good condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the arm.

An 18-year-old boy was shot in the foot in the 4000 block of Monroe Street at 2:11 a.m., Gaines said. He was taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

A male was shot in the stomach and arm in the 5100 block of South Archer Avenue at 2:24 a.m., Gaines said. He was hospitalized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
