Man accused of driving the wrong direction — again

A Pilsen man wanted for driving in the wrong direction in River North in 2010 was arrested early Thursday after driving in the wrong direction again — this time on the Eisenhower Expressway.
Victor H. Rocha, 34, of the 1500 block of South Sangamon Avenue, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Thursday and charged with felony aggravated DUI and ticketed for driving the wrong way, operating a vehicle with a revoked driver’s license and disobeying a traffic control device, according to Illinois State Police.
Rocha was driving a silver, 2009 Hyundai east in the westbound lanes of the Eisenhower (I-290) and attempted to drive north onto the ramp from the southbound Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94), a release from ISP said.
An Illinois Department of Transportation truck stopped the car on the ramp and prevented the driver from going farther, the release said. Rocha was arrested about 10 minutes later.
“Anytime a wrong-way driver is behind the wheel, the public and motorists are at risk,” ISP District Chicago Capt. Luis Gutierrez said a statement. “The real tragedy here is that this is the second time this driver has violated the law and endangered the safety of others.”
Rocha was wanted for a prior DUI and driving the wrong way arrest from 2010, when he was stopped near the intersection of Orleans and Superior, police said.
