Teen boy shot while playing basketball in Bronzeville

A teen boy was shot while playing basketball Wednesday night in the South Side Bronzeville neighborhood.
The boy, 17, was playing basketball in the 800 block of East 50th Street 8:25 p.m. when someone approached on foot and shot him, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
He was taken in “stable” condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to the arm, Alfaro said.
No one is in custody. Area Central detectives are investigating.
