Chicago police are warning residents about a jump in robberies last month in the Southwest Side’s Ashburn area - possibly by the same thief.
Robberies have occurred in the 3100 block of West 80th Street on May 29 at approximately 5 p.m., and in the 7900 block of South Kedzie Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 31, police said. The department didn’t provide the specific number of robberies or comparison data.
Victims have been approached by a gunman who demands property.
The thief is described as a black man, between 17 and 23 years old, 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-2, 150 to160 pounds, with dreadlocks.
Police urge residents to always be aware of their surroundings, immediately report suspicious activity, and never to pursue a fleeing assailant but instead provide any information to police.
Anyone who may have information on these robberies is asked to call Area Central detectives, at (312) 747-8382.
