An accountant for an Oak Brook consulting firm stole $286,000 from the business by writing phony checks to himself for more than four years, DuPage County authorities said Wednesday.
Shaun Horan helped hide the thefts from Resource One by altering documents and other records, prosecutors said.
The 31-year-old Aurora man was ordered jailed on $250,000 bail when he appeared in court Wednesday to face a felony theft charge.
If convicted, he faces a possible 15-year prison term.
Horan wrote numerous checks to himself from business accounts between 2007 and 2011, said Paul Darrah, a spokesman for the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.
