A man jumped into the South Branch of the Chicago River Friday night after he was allegedly seen trespassing on private property in the West Side.
Police approached the 34-year-old man in the 2200 block of South Lumber Street about 8:18 p.m., and the man ran and jumped into the river, said Police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines.
The Chicago Police Department’s Marine Unit got the man out of the river, and he was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center for observation, Gaines said.
No charges were filed against the man as of Friday night.
