A Chicago woman convicted of murdering her young son was sentenced to more than six years in prison Friday.
Doulesha Wyatt was charged with murder in July 2010 for the death of her 21-month-old son, Jaymeon Wyatt, who was battered and suffered numerous injuries, police said.
Wyatt was convicted of the murder in March, and on Friday Judge Vincent M. Gaughan sentenced her to 79 months in prison, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Andrew Conklin.
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services had prior contact with the family before the toddler’s death, spokesman Kendall Marlowe said in 2010. DCFS initially took two other children into their custody.
