Feds: Teller thwarts robbery by telling would-be thief bank closed

Perdomo was charged with the attempted robbery of Albany Bank and Trust on the Northwest Side after she allegedly tried to rob the bank last week, but left after a teller told her the bank was closed. She allegedly returned Tuesday along Willie Weathersby (pictured). Weathersby was accused of also robbing the bank by himself earlier in March.

A teller foiled a would-be bank robber with a simple message: We’re closed.
The woman left, but then returned Tuesday, five days later — and was arrested.
So says a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in which Olga L. Perdomo was charged with attempted robbery at Albany Bank and Trust on the Northwest Side.
Also charged in the complaint was Willie Weathersby, who was accused of being with Perdomo when she came back and robbing the bank by himself earlier last month.
Federal prosecutors say that Perdomo went to the bank at 3400 W. Lawrence at 5 p.m. Thursday and gave the teller a note saying, “Give me all your money, no cops, no dye pack.”
But when the teller told Perdomo the bank was closed and said she should come back the next day, Perdomo left the bank. She allegedly waited until Tuesday — and then returned to the bank.
That’s when a bank employee called police.
