A 26-year-old woman was sexually assaulted and robbed at knifepoint while riding a CTA Red Line train on the South Side early Friday.
The assault took place at 4:55 a.m. on board a southbound train between Roosevelt Road and 79th Street, police said in a community alert.
The woman was riding the train when a man armed with a knife attacked her and then robbed her, officials said. No one else was on the train car at the time, police said. He got off the train at the 87th Street station, the alert said. The woman was not injured in the attack and refused medical treatment, police said.
The suspect is described as a black man between 20 and 25 with a slim build, dark complexion and no facial hair. He was wearing all black clothing including a black-hooded jacket, and was armed with a black-handled knife with a long blade, the alert said.
CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said police notified the agency after the alleged assault. The CTA has provided surveillance footage to detectives.
