Park Ridge police have a “person of interest” in custody in connection with the death of a 39-year-old man last week.
Cmdr. Lou Jogmen said police had someone in custody Tuesday, but no charges had been filed.
Henry “Chip” Mallek, of Chicago, was found dead early Feb. 9 in a commuter parking lot in the 200 block of Summit Avenue.
He had been strangled and his hands were bound in front of him with plastic ties, Park Ridge Police Chief Frank Kaminski said.
Mallek, who was initially identified by police by his birth name of Henry Nowak, grew up in Park Ridge and had recently returned to the area to help take care of a family member, a relative said.
