A 15-year-old boy who was shot along with his father Sunday morning in the South Side Marquette Park neighborhood has died.
Deshun Winfert, 15 of the 2900 block West 65th Street, was pronounced dead at 10:32 p.m. Monday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
The boy and his 32-year-old father were shot while they were in a vehicle stopped at a stop sign about 11:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of West 66th Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
A silver SUV pulled along side their vehicle and a front-seat passenger pulled out a weapon and shot the father and son, Kubiak said.
The shooters’ vehicle fled east on 66th Street, Kubiak said. The father drove away south on Mozart before stopping and calling 9-1-1 near the intersection of South Kedzie Avenue and West 63rd Street
Both victims were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where one was in “stable” condition and the other in critical condition Sunday, police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
