Man critically hurt in Southwest Side gas station shooting

A man was shot in the head at a Southwest Side gas station early Thursday.

The shooting happened about 3:30 a.m. at a gas station in the 7200 block of South Western Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said, citing preliminary information.

The man, thought to be 18, suffered a gunshot wound in the attack, Alfaro said.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
