Man fatally shot on South Side

A man was fatally shot in the head Tuesday evening on the South Side.

The 19-year-old man – identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as Kurtis Stanton – was walking in the in the 1500 block of West 94th Street about 4:30 p.m. when someone approached him from behind and shot him in the head, police said.

Stanton, of the 6600 block of South Artesian Avenue, was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:40 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

No one is in custody early Wednesday and Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
