A motorist struck a 62-year-old man with his BMW and then asked him not to call police after an argument about a microphone that went missing from a North Side karaoke bar, officials said.
Gereltsaikhan Bumdorj, 35, of the 5400 block of North East River, was charged with aggravated battery, police said. The man followed Bumdorj outside Lincoln Karaoke, in the 5500 block of North Lincoln, and confronted him Dec. 22, 2011, about the missing microphone, said police, who could not confirm if the man was the owner of the bar.
Bumdorj began driving a 2002 BMW convertible and allegedly struck the man, who landed on top of the car and held on for about half a block, Zala said.
Bumdorj stopped the car and the man flew off the car and struck the pavement, Zala said. Bumdorj got out of the car and threw $150 in cash at the man, urging him not to contact the police, then drove away.
