City Clerk Del Valle: 'I am definitely running' for mayor
City Clerk Miguel Del Valle, 59, appears to have become the first candidate for mayor to move from "thinking about" running to actually saying "I've decided to run."
"I know a lot of people out there are saying that I'm thinking about it,'" Del Valle told the Sun-Times. "I didn't think it was necessary to play games with people and form an exploratory committee.' I am definitely running. I will do a formal announcement in the near future."
Del Valle spent 19 years as a state senator and was a leader of the independent bloc of Hispanic legislators when Daley tapped him to run on his ticket for city clerk four years ago.
