At least six people were shot across the city since Wednesday night, police said.
The most recent shooting happened about 2:45 a.m. Thursday on the Near West Side. That’s where a man in his 30s was shot in the upper thigh in the 1200 block of South Racine, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in an unknown condition, Alfaro said.
About 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, a male was shot in the head in the 1800 block of North Natchez in the Austin neighborhood, Alfaro said. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Alfaro said, adding that the male’s condition and age were not immediately available.
The shooting was originally thought to be an attempted suicide, Alfaro said, but investigators later concluded someone else shot the male.
About 10:15 p.m., two other men were shot in the Austin neighborhood. The men were sitting in a car in the 5000 block of West Madison Street when someone walked up and started shooting, said police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
They drove to a home in the 1500 block of North Long — more than 2-1/2 miles away — and then called police, police said.
A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg and taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said. Another man, 37, was shot multiple times and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Both were in stable condition, Greer said.
About 8:30 p.m., a man in his 40s was shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting in the 8500 block of South Hermitage in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, Alfaro said.
The man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park in stable condition, Alfaro said.
About 8 p.m., a man in his 20s was shot in the left leg in the 3400 block of West Walnut in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, Alfaro said. The man was taken in stable condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Police have made no arrests in any of the shootings..
