Who’s going to pay for the Bulls new practice center?

Updated: July 15, 2012 3:31PM

So who’s going to pay for this?

The Bulls say the new practice faciility the team is planning will be privately funded.

And Mayor Rahm Emanuel said there will be no tax-increment financing (TIF) subsidy for the Bulls practice facility or a planned retail complex, which would go on the east side of the United Center.

But the mayor did not rule out an extension of a lucrative property tax break at the United Center.

The mayor would only say he would “represent the taxpayers and make sure they’re not taken to the cleaners” to help a professional sports franchise.

“There will no sweetheart deals and there has been no discussion,” Emanuel said.
