Former Illinois basketball player Jereme Richmond has been released again from the Lake County Jail, where he’d been held since a judge last week learned he tested positive for marijuana while out on bond.
The former Waukegan High School star is accused of beating and threatening a Waukegan woman police say he may have dated. He has formally denied aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon charges.
He had been out on bond on those charges when Associate Judge Theodore Potkonjak increased Richmond’s bail to $100,000 last week after learning of the failed drug test.
Circuit Judge John Phillips reduced Richmond’s bail to $70,000 at a hearing Wednesday. Richmond had a credit of $6,500 from when he posted bond the first time on Sept. 19, and was released late Wednesday after posting the remaining $500 bond.
Richmond still has to submit to random drugs and alcohol testing, and must abide by a curfew of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. except to go to work, court, medical appointments, school or basketball training.
He is due back in court Nov. 7.
