A career criminal who allegedly shot a rival through a closed door on the West Side was denied bail Sunday.
Nearly two years after Robert Baber, 36, was fatally shot at his girlfriend’s home on Nov. 27, 2009, Marlon Johnson, 31, appeared before Judge Adam Bourgeois, charged with Baber’s murder. Johnson went to Baber’s girlfriend’s home on the 400 block of South Central and tried to lure him outside, prosecutors say.
When Baber refused to come out, Johnson pounded and kicked the door, prosecutors say. But as Baber braced the door to prevent Johnson getting in, Johnson allegedly shot him through the door. Kim Janssen
