Think of Drew Peterson, and doesn’t actor Denzel Washington come to mind?
Well, it comes to the former Bolingbrook cop’s mind, when he’s thinking about who should portray him in a movie.
So Peterson, jailed since May 2009 on charges he drowned his third wife, Kathleen Savio, was slightly disappointed to learn actor Rob Lowe will play him in Lifetime’s TV movie “The Drew Peterson Story.”
“If I was ever in a movie, I was hoping I would be portrayed by Denzel Washington, but I guess Rob Lowe is OK,” Peterson told his attorney, Joel Brodsky, upon learning the news Tuesday.
The TV movie is based on Joe Hosey’s 2008 nonfiction book, Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Sergeant Drew Peterson, according to a story posted on hollywoodreporter.com. Actress Kaley Cuoco is set to play Stacy Peterson, Drew Peterson’s fourth wife, who vanished in October 2007. Peterson remains a suspect in Stacy Peterson’s still-unsolved disappearance but has not been charged.
Brodksy is not a big fan of Hosey’s book.
“I thought Joe Hosey’s book was very inaccurate and biased,” Brodsky said. “I hope that Lifetime will do a little bit of fact-checking and not rely entirely on Joe Hosey’s book.”
But Hosey, who insists his book is accurate and fair, responded: ”If Joel Brodsky is angry about something, it’s that I am making money and he’s not. He might be angry that the truth is getting out there.”
Peterson quipped the late Al Lewis — perhaps best known for playing Grandpa in the TV show “The Munsters” — should play Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow.
