Nine people are in custody after two Chicago Police officers were hurt during a fight at a North Side beach Sunday night.

Police responded to a fight at Montrose Beach in the 4400 block of North Simonds Drive about 7:37 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco said. Police could not say how many people were involved in the fight.

While police tried to break up the fight, someone threw a bottle and struck an officer, according to police and fire officials. The officer was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital in good condition, according to fire media affairs. He was later released.

Another officer was also injured during the fight but refused medical treatment, police said.

Nine males are in custody early Monday and charges are pending against them, police said.
