No one was injured in a fire at Rizzo’s restaurant in downtown Naperville Sunday morning that caused about $200,000 in damages.
Firefighters were dispatched to Rizzo’s, 6 W. Jefferson Ave., about 6:15 a.m. and found heavy, black smoke coming from the two-story restaurant, the Naperville Fire Department said in a statement.
The fire was contained to the restaurant’s roof, exterior deck and second floor, the fire department said. Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 30 minutes and were assisted by seven neighboring departments, including those from Wheaton, Warrenville and Plainfield.
No one was injured, but the building was deemed uninhabitable by an inspector from the town’s Transportation, Engineering and Development office, the fire department said. The damage is estimated at $200,000.
The cause was still under investigation Sunday morning.
