A southwest suburban man is facing DUI charges after crashing a minivan with his 8-year-old daughter in southwest suburban Palos Park early Sunday, according to police.

At 12:35 a.m. Sunday, a Palos Park police officer saw 43-year-old Saulius Tamavicius of Orland Park drive a dark-colored minivan into a construction barricade near the 12500 block of Route 45 in Palos Park, a statement from Palos Park police said.

The officer determined Tamavicius was “impaired” and found his 8-year-old daughter inside the van, police said. She was not hurt.

He is charged with DUI and endangering the life of a child, police said. His blood alcohol level was .19, about two-and-a-half times the legal limit.

Bond information was not immediately available.
