Trains were bypassing the 47th Street CTA Red Line station during the morning commute after a man was found dead on the platform early Monday, officials said.
The 60-year-old man was discovered on the platform at the Red Line station at 220 W. 47th St. about 4:30 a.m., according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Police said the man’s death appears to be natural. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Trains were not stopping at the station at one point Monday morning, according to a service alert on the CTA’s website. But regular service resumed hours later.
