Two boys were injured Sunday afternoon when an awning fell from a building outside of a strip mall in north suburban Mundelein, authorities said.
The awning fell and struck both children about noon at a strip mall in the 1400 block of South Butterfield Road, according to Mundelein Fire Battalion Chief Kevin McKinley.
One of the boys was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in good condition, while the other boy was treated at the scene, McKinley said. The ages of the children was not immediately known.
Rescue crews left the scene about 40 minutes later and no other injuries were reported.
Mundelein police say they have video of the incident.
The building’s owner couldn’t be reached for comment.
Building department is at the scene and investigating, according to the Mundelein Police Department.
