Four people were rescued from a tugboat that took on water in Lake Michigan on the South Side on Monday afternoon, according to fire officials.

Crews first responded to the boat just before 5 p.m. on reports that it was sinking, Fire Media Affairs said.

Four people aboard were rescued safely and taken to the nearby harbor at 31st Street, fire officials said.

The boat took on water but is still visible, floating in shallow water off 40th Street, officials said.
