Worker on Randolph bridge hurt after falling into trench

A city worker was injured when he fell into a trench Thursday morning in the Loop.
The city Department of Transportation employee was performing spring maintenance on the Randolph Street bridge at 11:15 a.m. when he fell about 15 feet into a trench area under the bridge, according to police and Fire Media Affairs.
The 59-year-old man was taken in serious but stable condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to Fire Media.
A city spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
