A body was found Friday near the site where a former Des Plaines woman went missing in December after floodwaters swept away the pickup she and her husband were driving in southern Indiana.
Someone spotted the body atop cornstalk debris around 1:45 p.m. Friday near the mouth of a creek that feeds into the White River in southern Indiana, where authorities first searched for Kathryn McGill last December, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources said.
On Dec. 29, Adam and Kathryn McGill were swept off the roadway on Route 257, near the border between Pike and Daviess counties, into floodwaters from the White River.
The couple had been visiting family in the Washington, Ind., area, where Adam McGill is from, the DNR’s Jim Schreck said at the time. They were heading back home to Norfolk, Va., when they drove around a barrier on a flooded road and were swept away, he said.
