A teenage boy was shot to death Wednesday night in the Woodlawn neighborhood.
About 8:20 p.m., the 14-year-old boy was walking with two other people in the 6100 block of South Vernon Avenue when a white van drove up and someone inside fired shots at the group, said Chicago Police Officer Hector Alfaro, a department spokesman.
The boy was shot in the head and died at the scene, Alfaro said.
No one else was injured in the shooting, which police said appeared to be gang-related.
No one was in custody. Area Central detectives were investigating.
