A west suburban man was charged with robbing two gas stations after getting arrested outside a third one early Wednesday, according to police.
Antonio G. Castillo, 39, of Westmont, was charged with two felony counts of robbery, according to Darien police. He was already wanted on an unrelated warrant out of Lake County.
About 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Castillo allegedly robbed the Circle K Shell station at 8975 Lemont Rd. in Darien, according to police.
Police said he used the gas station’s washroom, then brought a bottle of water to the counter, where he grabbed cash from the register before driving away southbound on Lemont.
A few hours later at 2:40 a.m., a robbery was committed at a Shell station at 8226 Cass Ave. in Darien, police said. The robber drove off southbound on Cass Avenue to I-55.
Fifteen minutes later, at 2:55 a.m., an Illinois State Police trooper saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect parked at a Shell station at Route 53 and I-55 in Bolingbrook, police said.
Castillo was taken into custody, and positively identified by the clerks from both gas stations, police said.
Castillo, of the 1100 block of Florence Avenue in Westmont, was ordered held on a $10,000 bond in DuPage County Court.
He will now be turned over to authorities in Lake County, where he was wanted on a $205,000 bond arrest warrant issued Nov. 20, 2013. The warrant alleged he violated terms of probation from a theft conviction, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Dept.
