A Far South Side man was ordered held without bond Tuesday for allegedly kidnapping a sleeping woman outside a hot dog stand and sexually assaulting her in an attack more than two years ago.

Semen found on the woman matched Dwayne Towns’ and on Monday, the victim identified the 51-year-old felon as her attacker in the Sept. 4, 2011 incident, Cook County prosecutors said.

Shortly before the early morning assault, the woman had been sleeping in the passenger side of a car while the driver was in line ordering food at the Maxwell Street Express hot dog stand, 11656 S. Halsted, Assistant State’s Attorney Elizabeth Dibler said.

Towns allegedly entered the car, which still had its keys in the ignition, and drove away with the 21-year-old victim inside, Dibler said.

After driving to an empty lot in the 12100 block of South Peoria, Towns allegedly awoke the victim by tapping a silver semiautomatic handgun on her head.

Towns told the woman to stay quiet, pulled the keys out of the ignition, walked out of the car and opened the front passenger door while still holding the gun, Dibler said.

He then pulled down his pants and forced the victim to perform oral sex on him, Dibler said.

Towns allegedly went back to the driver’s seat and started rummaging for property he could steal. That’s when the victim ran out of the car without any shoes on, Dibler said.

The woman ran through the empty lot littered with debris, tripping at one point, which caused lacerations to her bare feet and knees, Dibler said.

She eventually knocked on a stranger’s door for help.

Police later found the vehicle Towns allegedly stole in the abandoned lot, Dibler said.

Towns, of the 12200 block of South Morgan, has four previous convictions for drug charges, vehicular invasion, aggravated robbery and home invasion and armed robbery.

He is a gang member, according to a police report.
