Someone left a 1-ounce gold bar worth an estimated $1,200 in a Salvation Army kettle outside a store in Michigan City, Ind.
Corinne Charleston, a Salvation Army ringer, says she was thrilled when she found a $50 bill in her kettle over the weekend.
And then Charleston got an even bigger thrill when she saw the gold bar wrapped inside a $1 bill.
It happened in South Dakota, too, where two gold bars valued at more than $1,200 each were dropped in kettles in Sioux Falls, one o them in a note that said “Bell Ringers are Special People.”
