Man shot on Safe Passage route in Woodlawn

A man was shot on a Chicago Public Schools Safe Passage route Friday afternoon in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood.
The man, 33, was standing in the 400 block of East 63rd Street when he was approached and shot about 4:30 p.m. by a male, believed to be between ages 17 and 20, police said.
The 33-year-old sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and buttocks, Zala said. He took himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center but was then transported to Stroger Hospital, where his condition is unknown.
The incident happened a block away from Dulles School of Excellence, 6311 S. Calumet Ave., and is on a Safe Passage route, according to the Chicago Public Schools website.
