Body recovered in water near Loyola campus

November 11, 2009

The Chicago Police Marine Unit recovered a body from the water near Loyola University's Rogers Park campus Wednesday morning.

Police received a call of a body in the water about 11 a.m. from Loyola University security, according to News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

The body was discovered just south of Loyola Avenue, about 6500 North, near Loyola's campus, according to unconfirmed dispatch reports. It was unclear as of noon if the body was located near the shore of Lake Michigan or in a body of water on the campus.

The Marine Unit recovered the body, Perez said. The gender and approximate age of the victim was not immediately known.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
