November 11, 2009

The home of a police boss possibly third in line to Supt. Jody Weis was burglarized Monday on the Far Northwest Side and police believe it may be linked to a pattern in nearby Niles or Park Ridge.

The incident occurred during the day Monday when Chicago Police Deputy Supt. Steven Peterson was at work, according to police. Peterson is also head of the head of the Chicago Police Bureau of Investigative Services.

Items taken included a large flat screen television and a .357 magnum revolver, police said. No one was injured and there was no was home at the time. Peterson, a former South Sider, is single and there also no children there at the time either.

Peterson was said to be upset but taking the incident relatively well, according to police.

Authorities authorities are looking into to whether the burglary is connected to a similar active burglary pattern in nearby Niles, according to police who said no one was in custody early Wednesday.

Police News Affairs said they had not heard of the incident as of 5:25 a.m.
